Thesis, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Tarbiyah Faculty, State Islamic Institute of Samarinda. This research is under guidance of Bahrani, M.Pd as advisor I and Rostanti Toba, M.Pd as advisor II. It is said that Vocabulary is one of factors the suport students for meaning language skills. Without a proportional amount of vocabulary anyone will get trouble in speaking, reading, listening and writing. Mastering vocabulary means that students have comprehensive knowledge about the vocabularies which include the meanings, the spoken form, the written form, the grammatical behavior, the word derivation, the collocations of the words, the register of the word - spoken and written, the connotation or associations of the word, and word frequency. The objective of this research is to know the different study of English vocabulary mastery between eleventh grade Sains and Social major of SMAN 1 Sangasanga in Academic Year 2018/2019. The method used in this research is a quantitative research and it designed in a comparative study. The population of this research was 133 students of eleventh grade of science and social major of SMAN 1 Sangasangaa in academic year 2018/2019 and the sample was 68 students. The data of the students are collected through simple random sampling technique. Test is used as the instrument of this research. Test of vocabulary mastery is conducted to measure students‟ vocabulary mastery. Then, the researcher analyze the comparative by using Z score Formula. Based on the data analyzed show that Z score was 8.911 and Z table was 1.95. It means Z score higher than Z table (8.911 > 1.95). It can be concluded that there was difference study of English vocabulary mastery between eleventh grade of science and social major of SMAN 1 Sangasanga in academic year 2018/2019. | en_US |
