Susi Ratna Sari, 2019. The Correlation Between Students’ Motivation and English Achievement at the Fifth Grade of SD Islam Al Azhar 47 Samarinda in Academic Year 2018/2019. Under Graduate Degree. Thesis, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Tarbiyah Faculty, State Islamic Institute of Samarinda. This research is under guidance of Bahrani, M.Pd as the first advisor and Rostanti Toba, M.Pd as the second advisor. This research is motivated by the existence of students who have low desire and desire to learn, students do not yet have the drive and learning needs are high. Related to the motivation of students, there are students who have high enough motivation to learn English education, for example, collecting assignments on time, getting to class on time, enthusiasm to work on assignments when lessons take place. Achievement is the result of instructional or assessment. Achievement in general connected to aspects of knowledge which can be interpreted also as a result of changes due to learning. There any correlation between students‟ motivation and English achievement at the fifth grade of SD Islam Al Azhar 47 Samarinda in academic year 2018/2019. The method which was used in this research was a quantitative research and it was designed in influence study. The population of this research was the fifth grade students of SD Islam Al Azhar 47 Samarinda in academic year 2018/2019. There were 53 students (5a and 5b) chosen as the sample by using purposive sampling technique. Then, the research analyzed the students‟ motivation (X variable) toward English achievement (Y variable) by using Pearson Product Moment formula. The data were collected and calculated by using Pearson Product Moment correlation coefficient and t-test with significant 5%. Based on the result research analysis shows that the value of 0. 101, it is lower than rtable value in the significance of 5% ( 0.101 < rt (5%) = 0.270). Moreover, based on the calculation of the ttest, it is found that the score of (t = 0.725 and it is lower than the score of ttable, which t = 0.725 < ttable (5%) = 1.645). It means that H0 is accepted and Ha is rejected. It can be concluded that there is no correlation students‟ motivation and English achievement at the fifth grade of SD Islam Al Azhar 47 Samarinda. | en_US |
