This research is under guidanced of Dr. Umar Fauzan, M.Pd as Advisor I and Nadia Sya’ya, M.Pd., M.Tesol as Advisor II.
Have a good writing skill at the university almost become a must for every student. This is because, almost every task completed by the students must be in the form of written documents, for example, essays, papers, articles, reports assignments, final projects, and thesis. One of the realizations of the learner's ability to write in English is the ability to produce a good paragraph as an integral part of academic writing. Essay writing enables a student have good analytical skills which can assist them in doing fieldwork. It helps them evaluate, analyze and think critically. An essay consists of an introduction, the body and the conclusion. The aim of this research is to analyze the essay organization written by eighth semester students’ of english education department of state islamic institute samarinda academic year 2018/2019.
The research design of this research was qualitative research. The subject of this research was eighth semester students of english education department. The data in this research was the students’ writing of an essay. The data were gotten from a test. Then the data would be analyzed by reduction, display and conclusion.
The result of this research showed that the the students’ writing based on the structure organization of the essay is kind of good. Most of the students are able to write an essay correctly. Furthermore, the students can make adequate title, introductory paragraph and acceptable body of essay, but, the students still lack of evidence and fact and they cannot develop the idea in wide. In concluding paragraph, the conclusion that written by them was kind of weak, some of them just wrote the concluding paragraph less than four sentences. From scale 1 to 10, there was only 3 students that wrote the re-statement of thesis statement. In contrast, the other student does not meet the rules of an essay. Also, in the ending of essay, most of student did not write the call of action or suggestion for the ending of essay. | en_US |
