Not all school is able to implement the 2013 curriculum in accordance with the planning and process of implementation well, and learning in accordance with the 2013 curriculum. Developing the 2013 curriculum in SMA Negeri 11 Samarinda would produce productive, innovative students, and objective through strengthening attitudes, skills, and knowledge. The purposes of this research are to find out the problem in implementation of 2013 curriculum in learning English in SMA Negeri 11 Samarinda and to give the solution of the problem in implementation of 2013 curriculum in learning English in SMA Negeri 11 Samarinda.
This research design was descriptive qualitative, the research instruments were two instruments: interview and documentation. First, interview about obtaining information directly through request for information to the information addressed to the English teacher. Second, documentation looking for data about things likes a syllabus and lesson plan. Data analysis uses the Miles and Humberman theory which consists of data collection; data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verifying. Source of data in this research was obtained from the English teacher.
The research finding showed, that in the preparation of 2013 curriculum, the teacher has a very important role determining the success of students to follow the provisions in 2013 curriculum and it turn out that the preparation or maturity of teachers in teaching using 2013 curriculum is not in accordance with the reality because there are still obstacles that make it 2013 curriculum not implemented optimally like; first, some teachers have not get a training about how to implement the 2013 curriculum and finally they assume that 2013 curriculum same with KTSP. Second, students find it is difficult to understand the textbook provided. Third, facilities from school are lacking. The solutions of the problems above are first; school should provide training for teachers who do not understand how 2013 curriculum implemented. Second, students must be more active in studying books first at home and if they do not understand can seek answers from other sources. Third, the school provides policies in equipping school facilities. In learning process of implementation of 2013 curriculum in SMA Negeri 11 samarinda is good and there are efforts to maximize its use by providing training to teachers who do not understand about 2013 curriculum.
