April Yeni Isadi, 2019. “An Error Analysis of the Students’ Ability in Making WH – Questions of the Ninth Grade at SMP Negeri 15 Samarinda in Academic Year 2019 - 2020”. Under graduated Degree Thesis, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Tarbiyah Faculty, State Islamic Institute of Samarinda. This research is under guidance of Bahrani, M.Pd as Advisor I and Dra. Sitti Hadijah, M.Pd as Advisor II.
Research background of this research was that many students in SMP Negeri 15 Samarinda had problems in make WH - Question. Based on the researcher’s experience in teaching practice program, the students made some errors especially in their writing. Many students did errors because the lack of knowledge of formation words and the difference rules of first language to second language. The objectives of this research to find out the types of errors and to know what the type of error that most frequently occurs in this research.
The research used the descriptive qualitative research. The source of data in this research was the ninth grade of SMP Negeri 15 Samarinda. The researcher used instrument namely test. In the data of analysis technique, the researcher used a theory by Miles and Huberman which divided data analysis techniques in three ways such as, data collection, data displayed, and conclusion.
The findings of this research showed that students of the ninth grade in SMP Negeri 15 Samarinda committed four categories of errors. The students did four categories namely omission, addition, misformation and misordering. The percentage of error that being made by students were 30% omission, 16% addition, 44% misformation and 10% misordering. Meanwhile, the most frequently error was misformation with frequency of error 44 %. | en_US |
