Every individual has different ways in learning something. It also happens in learning language, such as English. The way of they learn something is called as learning style. Learning style is important in teaching learning process as it is a part of students‟ characteristic and each student brings their own style to the classroom. The objectives of the research are to know learning style of the sixth semester students of IAIN Samarinda in academic year 2018/2019 and to find the differences of learning style between male and female students at sixth semester of IAIN Samarinda in academic year 2018/2019.
This research uses quantitative research. The main instruments are questionnaire and documentation. The technique of collecting data is questionnaire. The data analysis technique used percentage formula. The questionnaire is from VAK Learning Styles Self-Assessment Questionnaire version which had been modified by Swinburne University of Technology. The questionnaire consists of 30 items. The questionnaire has given to the students at sixth semester of English Education Department in IAIN Samarinda that consists of 44 students.
The result of this research finding is that the researcher describes learning styles of the sixth semester and the differences of learning style between male and female students. The most dominant students learning style at sixth semester of IAIN Samarinda is visual learning style are 14 students (37%). The learning styles between male and female students were different. Most of male students are auditory learners and most of female students are visual learners. | en_US |
