Teaching English Vocabulary at the Seventh Grade Students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al-Arsyadi Samarinda in Academic Year 2017/2018

The objective of this research is to know the Teaching English Vocabulary at seventh grade MTs Al-Arsyadi Samarinda in Academic Year 2017/2018. English is something that important to be taught in every level of education. Teaching English requires a suitable technique to be used for students. Students are expected to know English vocabulary sufficiently to support their abilities before continuing to the next level. When students have learned vocabulary sufficiently, it shows that teaching and learning process becomes easier, then they can get maximum result.
The design of this research was descriptive data which used in qualitative research. The researcher used interview guide, observation, and documentation as data collection technique. The researcher analyzed data by data reduction, data display, and data conclusion.
The result of this research showed that the teacher used book provided by school and the teacher used material based on the syllabus and curriculum used by the school, the material from the book was searched from the internet. For teaching method, the teacher only used lecture, question-answer and discussion method. In evaluation, the teacher only used formative test at the end of learning process was conducted with multiple choice, true false, essay, and completionwith adjusting to the material. To help students remember the vocabulary the teacher used some technique such as playing games, memorizing, and translation, considering the conditions in the classroom.
