Sri Maya Nurnaningsih, 2022. “The Influence of Internal and External Factors Toward Students’ English Learning Difficulties of 9th Grade at SMPN 22 Samarinda”. Thesis, English Education Study Programme, Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Faculty, State Islamic University Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda. This research is under the guidance of Mrs. Rostanti Toba, M.Pd as the first advisor, and Mrs. Anis Komariah, M.Pd as the second advisor. Education is a conscious effort to realize the learning atmosphere and learning process so that students can develop their intentions to have spiritual strengths of virtue, self-control, personality, intelligence, noble morals and skills needed for themselves and society. To develop their self-interest, each learner has different abilities. Some learners achieve it without difficulty, but some learners have difficulties. The factors that cause learning difficulties are two kinds, namely, the internal factor (a factor derived from the student's self) and an external factor (a factor that comes from outside the student's self). Internal factors include interest, motivation and how to learn. External factors include family, school, and community environtment. The research aims to find out the influence of internal factor and external factor toward students’ English learning difficulties in 9th grade at SMPN 22 Samarinda. The population in this research was all students which consists of 11 classes. Based on the results of the calculation of the proportional random stratification sampling, the number of students' samples as many as 206 students, with the number according to proportionate stratified random sampling of each class. Data analysis technique were validity and reliability of the instrument and factor analysis. The results in this research was there were influences of internal factor and external factor toward students’ English learning difficulties. Those variables have influence toward students’ English learning difficulties. The magnitude of the influence of internal and external factor against learning difficulties was to look for the coefficient of determination. The result was 62,20% of the learning difficulties are affected by the internal and external factors. Based on the factor analysis, the main factor toward students’ English learning difficulties was the the student's interest which was still lack. Partial calculations based on the results of the calculation of standardized coefficient (Beta) showed that the value of external factors is greater than the value of internal factors, so that the variables of external factors are the dominant variables that affect the learning difficulties.en_US
