Improving Students’ Writing Skill Through Textless Comic at Eleventh Grade of MAN 1 Samarinda in Academic Year 2019/2020

This research is motivated by the difficulties that faced by the students in Writing, their writing result was not satisfying enough, just 5 out of 37 students could reach the Minimum of Criteria Mastery (KKM). The objective of this research is to know can textless comic improve students writing skill at Eleventh Grade of MAN 1 Samarinda in Academic Year 2019/2020.
This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research was held in the first semester at Eleventh Grade from July until August 2019 in MAN 1 Samarinda. This research was done in two cycles, each cycle consisted of: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Technique of collecting data was by test and observation. The researcher analyzed the data both quantitatively and qualitatively. The research gave test cycle 1 and cycle 2 to measure students’ writing ability.
The result of the test showed that the preliminary score was 63.81, in cycle 1, the score improved 9.78 points to 73.64. Meanwhile, in cycle 2, the score increased more to 75.16. Comparing to the preliminary score, students’ average score improved 11.35 points. From those cycles and result, the researcher concludes that textless comic can improved students’ writing skill at eleventh grade of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1Samarinda in academic year 2019/2020.
