English has an important function in the era of globalization all over the world, suitable for daily activities. In accordance with the conditions mentioned above, English is taught in elementary, middle, high school, and universities. Teachers must be able to create and choose the right methods and techniques to get good results and avoid student boredom. From the informal interview process, there were unsatisfactory results related to writing skills where students had difficulty writing, and also students were still confused about what they were going to write, even though they knew the topic given by the teacher.
The research design used by researchers in this study was classroom action research. There are four components in one cycle in collecting data. It consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection. As for the analysis, the writer uses descriptive qualitative analysis techniques, namely in the form of written or oral data from schools such as profiles of student writing compositions, observation checklists, documentation, and tests.
The results of the study improved students' writing skills using jumbled sentences in class VIII students of SMP Melati Samarinda for the 2022 academic year. There are two deep cycles in this action research. In the first and second cycles, there were results that showed improvement of students after the action was given. The results of the writing test show that students have made some progress. This can be seen from the results of student tests. They are also active during the teaching and learning process which is seen based on the results of the observation checklist.
