THE EFFECTIVENES OF USING PICTURE SERIES TO IMPROVE WRITING NARRATIVE TEXT AT EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS’ OF MTs. DARUL MUTA’ALLIMIN SAMARINDA IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2023/2024

The background of this research writing is an important language skill has to be developed to the students’ and important factor in all English teaching. Many methods, strategies and techniques had been used by the teacher, lectures and instructors in teaching of writing. Using picture series is suitable for the teacher in teaching the writing and it gives solution for the teacher in teaching learning activities. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of using picture series to improve students’ writing narrative text at eighth grade students’ of MTs. Darul Muta’allimin Samarinda.
This research used a quantitative with a pre-experimental method, the population of this research included 40 students from class VIII at MTs. Darul Muta’allimin Samarinda. In determining the sample, the researcher used a purposive sampling formula by taking 40 students, data are gathered by observation, test and documentation. The normality test, homogeneity test, and the t-test are addition formulas used to assess data, used to determine if the average value of pre-test and post-test differs.
The conclusion obtained from this research the average values pre-test score was 60.20 and for post-test was 67.20. The t-count of 35.448 and the significance value of 0.000 were also obtained for the result of the two hypothesis tests. The significance value is lower than 0.05 than it could be stated that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, it indicated that there was a significant difference between the post-test. The result of this research, the use of pictures in class which was taught without used pictures. As a result, the use of pictures in improve writing narrative text in eighth grade of MTs. Darul Muta’allimin Samarinda was effective.
