Data collection techniques from this study used observation (to see and understand classroom teaching activities), interviews (as a source of data to be obtained from teacher), and questionnaires (to collect and verify data from students in the mental retardation class). Research data were analyzed using models from Miles and Huberman. After the data is collected, the data is verified using triangulation. The results of this study indicated that the teacher teach English for mental retardation students by using audio visual learning model. The teacher must prepare instructional media on the laptop that will be displayed on the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen while teaching, beside laptop, the teacher uses the instructional media book as a teaching material, whiteboard as a writing tool and a single picture. After the teacher finished explaining the subject material to the students, the teacher gives the chance for students to ask for those whose does not understand related to the material explanation and the teacher give the assignment to the students in the form of rewriting the vocabularies that has been learned on that day.en_US
