dc.description.abstractHendri Saputra, Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FTIK), English Education Department, State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Samarinda. Authors’ thesis tittle in this research was Problem of Writing Descriptive Paragraph Made By Eighth Grade Students at MTs. Al-Misra Samarinda In Academic Year 2019/2020. Under the guidance of Mr. Bahrani, M.Pd as the first advisor and Mrs. Rostanti Toba, M.Pd as the second advisor. The research was conducted based on the researcher’s observation at MTs. Al-Misra Samarinda. The researcher found the problems in writing, especially when students write. The researcher assume there were almost 50% students at eighth grade have problem in using grammar and mechanic.The objective of this research is to find the problems in writing descriptive text paragraph made by eighth grade students of MTs. Al-MisraSamarinda. In doing research, researcher used descriptive qualitative design. The researcher used test and documentation as instruments. The test consisted aspect of writing skills and the documentation consisted original handwriting of students. The population of this research was 114 students from eighth grade of MTs. Al-Misra Samarinda. The sample from this research was 17 students which have been taken from all class randomly. The data was analyzed by using percentage. The result of this research was almost all of the students have serious problems in grammar and mechanics. Only a few students have problems in content, organization, vocabulary, and language use. It can be proven by the data number where 44% of students made errors in grammar. There were 18,7% of students made errors in mechanic. There were 12,6% of students made errors in vocabulary. The data reveal 10,7% of students made errors in organization as well. There were 8,6% of students made errors in language use. According to the data there were 5,4% of students are made errors in content. ABSTRAK Hendri Saputra, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (FTIK), Departemen Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Samarinda. Judul tesis penulis dalam penelitian ini adalah Masalah Penulisan Paragraf deskriptif yang dibuat oleh siswa kelas delapan di MTs. Al-Misra Samarinda Di Tahun Akademik 2019/2020. Di bawah bimbingan Bapak Bahrani, M.Pd sebagai dosen pembimbing pertama dan Ibu Rostanti Toba, M.Pd sebagai dosen pembimbing kedua. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan pengamatan peneliti di MTs. Al-Misra Samarinda. Peneliti menemukan masalah dalam menulis, terutama ketika siswa menulis. Peneliti melihat bahwa hampir 50% siswa memiliki masalah dalam menggunakan tata bahasa dan mekanik. Tujuanpenelitaninidilakukanadalahuntukmencarimasalah yang terdapatpadatulisandeskriptifsiswakelasdelapan di MTs Al-MisraSamarinda. Dalam melakukan penelitian, peneliti menggunakan desain deskriptif kualitatif. Peneliti menggunakan tes dan dokumentasi sebagai instrumen. Tes terdiri dari aspek keterampilan menulis dan dokumentasi terdiri dari tulisan tangan siswa. Populasi penelitian ini adalah 114 siswakelasdelapanMTs. Al-Misra Samarinda. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah 17 siswa yang diambil dari semua kelas secara acak. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan persentase. Hasil penelitian ini adalah hampir semua siswa memiliki masalah serius dalam tata bahasa dan mekanik. Hanya beberapa siswa yang memiliki masalah dalam hal konten, organisasi, kosa kata, dan penggunaan bahasa. Itu dapat dibuktikan dengan nomor data di mana 44% siswa membuat kesalahan dalam tata bahasa. Ada 18,7% siswa membuat kesalahan di mekanik. Ada 12,6% siswa membuat kesalahan dalam kosa kata. Datajuga menunjukan 10,7% siswa membuat kesalahan dalam organisasi. Ada 8,6% siswa membuat kesalahan dalam penggunaan bahasa. Lalu ada 5,4% siswa membuat kesalahan dalam konten.en_US
