The Effectiveness Of Using Picture In Teaching Descriptive Writing At Eighth Grade Students Of MTs. Al-Azhar Samarinda In The Academic Year 2023/2024

Writing is not easy to learn because there are several factors contribute to its difficulty. Students should know grammar, vocabulary, form of writing and mechanics of writing, such as spelling and punctuation. This study aims to determine how using pictures improves students’ writing ability. This research methodology used the quantitative pre-experimental design with data collection techniques in the pre-test and post-test. The data was collected by giving writing test. To obtain this data, the researcher involved one experimental group of 32 students at VIII-D Grade of MTs Al-Azhar Samarinda. The treatment was given to students in fourth meeting. Finally, the researcher gave post-test and then analyzed the score. The data was analyzed using a t-test to determine whether there was significance between before and after treatment. The result found that a pre-test average score of 58 and a post-test average score of 63,81 indicate that the post-test score is higher than the pre-test score. It was proven that there is significant of difference between before and after treatment in teaching descriptive writing by using pictures 10%. The final result of using t-test is lower than t-table with a significance level of 0,05 and N 32-1 (1,92 < 2,04). Based on the results of this research, the researcher concluded that signatures as a learning media was not effective in improving students’ writing ability at VIII-D Grade of MTs Al-Azhar Samarinda in the Academic Year 2023/2024.
