Students’ Perception Toward English Song As English Learning Media At Fifth Semester Of English Education Department Of UINSI Samarinda

English song is a valuable learning media for students, as it not only enhances their English skills but also promotes imaginative play, fantasies, and creative role-playing. As a tool for supporting teacher-provided materials, English songs provide students with a natural way to engage in active learning and develop new vocabulary and pronunciation. The research objective were describing the perception of students of English songs as a learning media of the English Education Department students of UINSI Samarinda. In this research, the design is qualitative research and analyzed to use descriptive qualitative. The researcher used questionnaires and interviews to analyze the results. Furthermore, the research subject was the fifth semester students’ of English Education Department of UIN Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda in the academic year of 2023/2024. The research findings showed that the songs were often listened to by students because they were enjoyable, useful for learning new words, and served as their primary learning tool. Additionally, songs were helping students expand English skills, enhancing fluency and adaptability to native speaker pronunciation. English songs also enhance vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar, making teaching and learning more interesting and motivating. Students' perception of motivation in learning English using English songs is also influenced, as they felt happy and motivated to learn. The benefits of English songs as learning media included understanding the meaning of words based on context, increased vocabulary and pronunciation, understood different dialects of English, improved speaking and listening skills, and made learning English enjoyable while pursuing interests.
