Using Realia As A Teaching Aid In Developing Students’ Writing Ability Of Procedure Text At Grade VII Students Of Smp Negeri 3 Muara Badak In Academic Year 2023/2024

This research was motivated by the emergence of several problems faced by grade VII students of SMP Negeri 3 Muara Badak in expressing meaning in functional, procedural, and simple report texts to interact in everyday life, especially in writing procedure texts. The researcher proposed a teaching aid that can be used as a medium to develop students' writing skills. In addition, this research aimed to determine the effectiveness of using realia media as a teaching aid in developing students' writing skills in grade VII SMP Negeri 3 Muara Badak. This research used quantitative research as a research design. The type of research used experimental research in the form of One-Group Pre-test-Post-test Design. The sample of this research was 23 students of grade VII SMP Negeri 3 Muara Badak. Meanwhile, the data collection in this research was obtained through three stages: pre-test, post-test, and questionnaire. To analyze the data, researcher used t-Test statistics and t-Test formula for one group called Paired Sample t-Test. The results of this research showed that the pre-test score was 74.73 and the post-test score was 85.30 after being given the used of realia. The research results also found that the t-test score was 6.32 and the t-Table value was 1.717 at a significance level of 0.05. It means there was 10.56 of mean score improvement. If the result of t-Test was higher than t-Table, the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and the null (H0) was rejected (6.32>1.717). It concluded that the used of realia as a teaching aid was able to develop the writing skills of grade VII students of SMP Negeri 3 Muara Badak in the academic year 2023/2024 specifically in understanding procedure texts.
